The Association of Vermont Credit Unions’ Board of Directors is pleased to welcome new President/Chief Executive Officer Carrie Allen. Allen assumed the role on January 1, 2026, succeeding long-tenured leader Joe Bergeron, upon his retirement at the end of 2025.
Allen joined the AVCU leadership team in 2024 as Chief Operating Officer. Before AVCU, she served as Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Heritage Family Credit Union in Rutland, VT.
In this new position leading the Association, Allen will address legislative and regulatory issues impacting Vermont credit unions, champion their voice in the media and among community partners, oversee the development of events and resources to benefit member businesses, and support the board’s ongoing development as a strategic governing body.
Board Chair Jean Giard, CEO/Vermont Federal Credit Union, said, “We welcome Carrie as the new President/CEO of the Association of Vermont Credit Unions. She brings a unique perspective to the trade association, having served in natural person credit unions for almost 15 years, and seeing the very real, daily challenges facing our operations. She is a dynamic leader with a proven track record building relationships with diverse stakeholders. The Board of Directors is excited about this next chapter, and we look forward to working with Carrie to plan the path forward for our members and the Vermont credit union industry of the future.”
